2005 Harbour Days in Alkmaar
An information market to promote the installation of a waste water tank in the vessels of recreational shipping.
All ships with a fixed berth in North Holland were invited for this.
Many have responded to this call.
To conclude a perfectly organized four-day festival, a fleet parade was planned on Sunday morning.
Naturally the Orm would take part in this.
However there was one problem, the local rowing club could not deliver rowers.
On the North Holland canal narrow for a Viking ship, one could only sail in one direction.
Rowers were needed for the other direction, but they were not there.
Then back to earlier times: recruiting, but in a modern way.
Literally from the street picked six burly guys.
After one hour of exercising with belts that the men had never had in their hands, a beautiful show was given away.
The public could not believe that these men were rowing on the Orm for the first time.
As was customary in earlier times, a dram was provided after the work was done.
Homage !
